Downtown Little League

2024 - Spring Registration

Welcome

Welcome to the DLL Spring 2024 Registration!

DOWNTOWN LITTLE LEAGUE’S (DLL) REGISTRATION FOR THE UPCOMING SPRING 2024 SEASON

We are excited for the upcoming baseball (coed) and softball (girls only) seasons, which mark DLL’s 31st year of providing organized activities for children ranging in ages from 5-18 across lower Manhattan.

Please read all instructions and proceed to registration using the ‘Sign In’ or ‘Create Account’ links at the bottom of the page.

DLL registration is the first of many activities leading up to our Opening Day and initial games scheduled for April 6, 2024.  Other potential activities include winter workouts for baseball & softball and sportsmanship and training programs for coaches, players, and parents.  Details on our active winter schedule will be communicated in the coming weeks and posted on our DLL website.

AGE & CATCHMENT REQUIREMENTS

If a child does not meet the minimum age requirements, you will NOT be able to complete the registration

  • Baseball (coed) - a child MUST be 5 years old by 8/31/2024 to participate
  • Softball (girls only) - a child MUST be 5 years old by 12/31/2023 to participate

If your child registered for DLL's 2023 Spring season and you submitted residence and age documentation – You will NOT be required to resubmit proof of player residence and age as long as you register with the same user account you did last year.

If you are registering a player who was not registered in our 2023 Spring season – Please make sure that your child meets the DLL eligibility requirements noted below and submit proof of residence (or school attendance) and age before submitting registration. A step-by-step process is provided toward the end of registration. the system uses Little League’s official Age Determination policy (summarized below) to place children in the appropriate age group/division.  Little League does NOT consider grade in their Age Determination policy. Based on your child’s birthday, the system will automatically place them in the correct age group and you will not be able to override the placement

  • Baseball age determination - child’s age as of 8/31/2024.  For example, if your child is currently 7 and turns 8 on June 1, 2024, they are considered Age 8 for the 2024 season
  • Softball age determination – child’s age as of 12/31/2023.  For example, if your child is currently 8 and turns 9 on February 1, 2024, they are considered Age 8 for the 2024 season
  • Either lives OR attends school in our catchment area, basically, below Canal Street.

PLAYER/COACH REQUESTS

Some of our baseball and softball divisions use social rostering for purposes of team formation.  This generally applies to the younger age groups and there will be a section in the registration that enables you to request pairing with a friend and/or a specific coach. We make every effort to support requests in the younger age group, but we cannot guarantee that all requests will/can be processed.   For the older divisions, e.g., baseball for players age 9 and above, team formation is done through a formal draft process, which does not support social requests.  If you are not prompted during registration to request a specific teammate or coach, then social rostering does NOT apply to your designated age group.

VOLUNTEER MANAGERS & ASSISTANT COACHES

DLL is fortunate to have an incredible group of volunteer managers and assistant coaches.  During registration, you will be asked if you would like to act as a team manager or assistant coach.  If you expect to pair up with another parent, please coordinate so that one person signs up as team manager and the other as assistant coach.  We have had situations where we thought we had enough team managers to cover a division only to find out that several people selected team manager rather than assistant coach because they planned to co-manage with another parent.  Co-managers are absolutely permitted, however for registration purposes we ask that one person signs up as manager and the other as an assistant. Placement or selection as a manager/coach is not guaranteed. Managers & Coaches that have completed proper and relevant trainings from sources like USA Baseball and Driveline will be prioritized for team placement.

SPONSORSHIP

Do you want to sponsor a team? If you would like to sponsor a team, please do so by answering "yes" to the registration question "Would your business like to sponsor?" If you have any questions regarding sponsorships, please email sponsorship@downtownlittleleague.org and include "Sponsorship" in the subject line.

SCHOLARSHIP

Do you need a scholarship? Please email scholarship@downtownlittleleague.org prior to completing registration.

AND FINALLY...

It is important to fully complete registration – your registration is not executed until you complete all steps of the process and receive a confirmation email.  Remember, if you are registering a first-time player, registration is not complete until player proof documents are uploaded into the player account AND they have been verified by the league.

  • If your child played in Spring 2023 - Our strong suggestion is that you are ready with the login information used last year.  If you forgot your password, you are encouraged to reach out to the SportsEngine team in advance of Dec. 1st and have your login detail ready to go. If you create a new player account this year, you will be required to upload proofs of player age and residency in order to complete the registration process. Using the login information that you used to access your player’s account in 2023 will ensure a smooth registration experience for 2024.
  • If you are signing up a new player in Spring 2024 - In addition to paying the $200 registration fee, you must upload proofs of player age and residency (or school attendance) at the time of registration. For proof of player age, please upload a copy of your child’s birth certificate or passport. Players must reside or attend school in DLL’s approved catchment area. Go here to see if your child is eligible.

Acceptable proofs of player residency include:

  • Current forms of proof include parent’s drivers license, rent or mortgage statement, utilities bill.
  • A current (September 1, 2023 or after) document from your child’s school that indicates their school attendance.
  • Parent Driver's License: ONLY provide a driver's license IF the issue date is September 1, 2023, or more recent.

Children may not participate in all DLL activities and programs until their registration is complete.  Again, this includes the required uploads and league verification of proof of player age and residency.

IMPORTANT: If you do not receive a confirmation email shortly after completing registration, please log back into your account to determine what is pending.
